Jan 21, 2018: Governor Samuel Ortom has urged Benue born music icon, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as Tuface , to help tell the Benue story to the world.
He made the call at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi when he received the multiple award-winning singer during the State Executive Council meeting on a condolence visit.
Governor Ortom called on Tuface to use his talent in collaboration with his professional colleagues to propagate the genocide against the people of the state and other parts of Nigeria to the international community for global attention.
He said the fallen heroes of the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law who were given state burial had spilled their blood to secure Benue land and to mark the end of killings in the state, stressing that their graves would become monuments for generations yet unborn.
The Governor expressed appreciation to Mr. Idibia for always coming home to identify with his people in their trying times, while citing the flood that ravaged parts of the state last year and the present gruesome murder of innocent farmers by suspected herdsmen since the beginning of 2018.
Earlier, Mr. Idibia said he was at the Benue Peoples House to commiserate with Governor Ortom and the entire Benue people over the unprovoked attacks on innocent and unarmed communities in Guma and Logo Local Government Areas.
He appreciated Governor Ortom for the matured manner he had handled the crisis and promised to mobilise his colleagues the world over to add his voice to the genocide in the state.
While praying for the peaceful repose of the fallen heroes, he described the killings as senseless and barbaric, saying the crisis could have been handled in a more civilised manner.
