Ogbeni Aregbesola led Osun State Government signs an agreement with AWOL Ltd for the concession of the $350m MKO International Airport.
AWOL International are the facilitators of the project. The project is to be handled by BIRAY group with support from the Turkish government
The project is to be financed 100% by BIRAY group to the tune of $350m
The concession agreement is a BOT agreement (Build, Operate and Transfer). AWOL International will finance the project to the tune of $350m
The concessionaire have expressly stated that work will begin on the airport site from the 9th of Nov 2017
The first phrase of the project is expected to be completed within the next 8 months.
Facilities to be completed within the first phase include:
1. An ultramodern commercial complex ( Terminal Building, Control Tower etc).
2. Standard Civic infrastructure
3. Maintenance building and Power House
4. Staff training center
5. Fire fighter station
6. Security infrastructure and services
7. Apron and Taxiway parking
8. Dual carriage road from Oba Adesoji Aderemi road to the airport
9. Completion of the fence and surveillance road within the airport perimeter
10. Completion of 3.5 kilometer standard runway
Concession is for 30 years and State Government’s equity is funds spent to date.
Concessionaire will pay all outstandings to existing contractors and also keep them to finish their part
AWOL is the SPV for the Project. Project implementation and financing will be by Baray Group
Baray Group has a technical background and experience. No previous contractual agreement has been terminated but all previous agreements have been brought under the framework of this concession
