PDP wins all Enugu State LG chairmanship and councillorship slots: APC rejects

Nov 6, 2017:  Peoples Democratic Party won all positions contested in the November 4 local council elections in Enugu State. This was announced by the chairman of Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission, Dr. Mike Ajogwu, SAN at the commission’s secretariat in Enugu on Sunday. He declared PDP candidates winners of the chairmanship positions in ALL the 17 local government areas in the state.
PDP candidates equally won the ALL councillorship elections in all the wards. There are 260 wards in Enugu State, and, according to ENSIEC, voting did not take place in two of the wards – Obioma and Eke wards in Udi Local Government Area.
Eke Ward is the home of some APC stalwarts in Enugu State, including Director General of Voice of Nigeria, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, and foreign affairs minister, Mr. Godfrey Onyeama.
PDP swept all the 258 wards which were declared by the electoral commission.  The development meant that only PDP members occupy elective positions at all levels of government in Enugu State.
APC REJECTS RESULTS
All Progressives Congress has rejected the results announced by ENSIEC.   Chairman of the APC in Enugu State, Dr. Ben Nwoye, described the polls as “a sham”.
Dr.  Nwoye said, “Like I predicted yesterday, the ENSIEC chairman, Dr. Mike Ajogwu, has rubbished himself with this sham he put together in the name of election just to satisfy his paymasters, the PDP.  “It is quite unfortunate that there was widespread of violence and blood berth in Enugu today, just simply because ENSIEC wants to please the PDP. There was no result sheets in all the polling units, yet Dr. Ajogwu called what he did election”
