{"id":3886,"date":"2017-11-27T16:28:50","date_gmt":"2017-11-27T23:28:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nigerianews.ca\/?p=3886"},"modified":"2017-11-27T16:28:50","modified_gmt":"2017-11-27T23:28:50","slug":"absence-restructuring-increase-allocation-s-e-s-s-govs-tell-buhari","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nigerianews.ca\/absence-restructuring-increase-allocation-s-e-s-s-govs-tell-buhari\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;In The Absence of ReStructuring, Increase Our Allocation&#8221; &#8211; S\/E, S\/S Govs tell Buhari"},"content":{"rendered":"<header class=\"entry-header-outer\">\n<div class=\"entry-header\"><\/div>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"post-footer post-footer-on-top\">\n<div class=\"post-footer-inner\">\n<div class=\"share-links \"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"attachment-jannah-image-post size-jannah-image-post wp-post-image\" src=\"https:\/\/aledeh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Southeast-Governors-Emergency-meeting.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"576\" height=\"346\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"featured-area\">\n<figure class=\"single-featured-image\"><figcaption class=\"single-caption-text\">The Governors<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"entry-content entry clearfix\">\n<p>November 27, 2017: The South-East and South-South Governors\u2019 Forum have called on President Muhammadu Buhari to increase allocation to the states from the Federation Account.<span id=\"more-21417\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The governors made the call in a communiqu\u00e9 at the end of the forum\u2019s meeting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, Southern Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>The Committee expressed concern that the revenue accruing to states has not reflected the increase in crude oil price and production level. \u00a0In a communiqu\u00e9 signed by its Chairman, Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom state, the governors said proposed that the Federal Government should relinquish all federal roads to states.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe forum, therefore, urges the Federal Government to ensure improved revenue allocation to the states to reflect the current realities to enable the states to meet the yearnings and expectations of their people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe forum also proposed that the Federal Government should relinquish all federal roads to states, where such roads are located, facilitate legislation that would ease concession of the roads \u201d the communiqu\u00e9 read.<br \/>\n\u200b<br \/>\nThe forum also appealed to the government for current intervention on critical infrastructure located in the South-South and South-East , including airports in Calabar, Enugu, Imo and Port Harcourt as well as roads in the zones.<\/p>\n<p>The governors expressed concern over an alleged shoddy approach to infrastructural development by some intervention agencies of the Federal Government operating in the regions.<\/p>\n<p>The appealed to the Federal Government to direct the agencies to liaise with state governments in the identification and execution of projects.<\/p>\n<p>The forum believes that the approach would ensure that projects carried out by intervention agencies were in synergy with the developmental agenda of the states.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was also attended by Rochas Okorocha of Imo, Nyesom Wike of Rivers, Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu.<\/p>\n<p>Others were Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, Ivara Esu and Dr Nkem Okeke, both Deputy Governors of Cross River and Anambra.<\/p>\n<p>NAN<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Governors November 27, 2017: The South-East and South-South Governors\u2019 Forum have called on President Muhammadu Buhari to increase allocation to the states from the Federation Account.
