Pastor Philip Igbinijesu of the Word Assembly has declared that any member of his church without a Permanent Voters Card (PVC) will not be allowed to partake in the church’s communion.

The cleric made the declaration in short video uploaded on YouTube on Friday, March 30.

He said those who do not have voters card should sit down when other members are taking the communion in church.

He said those talking and praying for Nigeria but had no PVC’s were doing so in vain, adding that individuals without voters card were enemies of Nigeria.

Femi Fani-Kayode, former minister of aviation, and Reno Omokri, former aide of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, squared off on Twitter over the opinion of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar on how herdsmen should be referred to.

In an interview on March 8, Abubakar said it was wrong to refer to killer herdsmen as Fulani.

“It is a misnomer to use the term ‘killer herdsmen of Fulani extraction’ or ‘killer Fulani herdsmen,” Abubakar had said.

“The vast majority of Fulani people are peaceful and live in harmony with other ethnicities. When kidnappers kidnap, we do not identify them by their ethnicity. We identify them as kidnappers, pure and simple. There may be fringe elements with criminal tendencies. Some may be Fulani. Some may not even be. Let us identify them by their activities and not by their ethnicity.”

But Fani-Kayode, on Saturday, said he was shocked by Abubakar’s assertion, adding that “it is most unlike him to speak in this way”.

“Is it so difficult for us to accept the ugly truth and to call a spade a spade?” he asked.

“Must we continue to mock the memories of those that have been slaughtered by shielding those who butchered them? Have we no shame or remorse? Are this childish semantics and infantile denials really necessary?”

Replying to his comment, Omokri said Fani-Kayode misquoted Abubakar and put words in his mouth.

According to him, most of the herdsmen perpetrating the act are Mbororo, adding that they “differ from the Fulani as the Tiv defer from the Igbo”.

Citing an example of Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, suspected kidnapper better known as Evans, Omokri said Evans is known as a kidnapper, not “Igbo kidnapper”.

He asked Fani-Kayode to apologise, asking if he would like such to be done to him.

“Read what you quote @Atiku as saying and read what @Atiku actually said. Note that they are 2 different statements. You misrepresented him. You twist his words. Your quote was dishonest. Quote Atiku. Don’t put your words in his mouth! You won’t like it done to you!” Omokri wrote.

“Actually, most of those involved in these killings are Mbororo also known as Bororo. I did a broadcast on this last year in London. If the Mbororo speak, the Fulani cannot understand them. The Mbororo differ from the Fulani as the Tiv defer from the Igbo.

“Recently the police arrested a notorious kidnappers known as Evans. Evans was even discovered to have been a billionaire. But neither the media or Femi Fani-Kayode described Evans as an Igbo kidnapper or a Yoruba kidnapper. He was just a kidnapper.

“Boko Haram became the deadliest terror group in the world in 2014. It has been established by independent sources that most Boko Haram fighters, are Kanuri from Borno/Yobe, but we do not call them Kanuri terrorists. We call them terrorists pure and simple.

“It is obvious who is being dishonest here. Look at the 2 quotes. Nigerians can read for themselves. You misquoted @atiku. It is in black and white. Plain as day. Why did you not just quote what he said? Why did you have to add and remove to what he said?

“Let us face the issue at hand instead of trying to divert it. You dishonestly misquoted @atiku and this is the proof. Be man enough to accept it and apologize. Would you like it if it’s done to you? Look Femi, you lied. Deal with it. I will not follow you into the gutter. I don’t need to suck up to @atiku. I made a fortune in US dollars from just one bestseller! I suck up to the truth not to men! You told a lie. Fess up to your lie.”

However, Fani-Kayode hit back at Omokri, asking him to “be a man” and call a spade a spade.

He insisted that “ALL Fulani terrorists and herdsmen are Fulani”.

“@renoomokri ….for God sake stop sitting on the fence and hedging ur bets. Be a man, call a spade a spade and stop trying to suck Atiku’s Fulani rectum.Real pastors don’t eat arseholes. Trust me, Atiku will respect u more if u tell him the truth and tell him when he is wrong,” Fani-Kayode said.

“Bad choice. There is no comparison. Not ALL BH fighters are Kanuri but ALL Fulani terrorists and herdsmen are Fulani. They are represented by Miyetti Allah which is an org. with a Fulani leadership. Finally most of their own Fulani leaders call them Fulani herdsmen. READ MY ESSAY!

“Not only must we cage the Fulani terrorists but we must also identify and crush the traitors within our ranks that lick their arses for money and favour and encourage them to unleash genocide against our people. Those that do that are worse than vermin, vultures and cockroaches.”

This is not the first time that both men will disagree in public. In 2016, they were involved in a public spat over a comment by Mark Zuckerberg, co-founder of Facebook.

Fani-Kayode had expressed reservations about Zuckerberg’s description of the Hausa language as unique but Omokri, who saw nothing wrong with what Facebook co-founder said, tackled the ex-minister.

The Chairman, Forte Oil, Femi Otedola haspraised Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State, saying he had “done overwhelmingly well,” and deserved re-election.

The billionaire also endorsed the second term bid of the governor, adding that Ambode would make the state the third largest economy in Africa.

In a statement, Otedola said in the last three years as a Lagosian, he had watched and followed transformation projects across the state, pointing out that Ambode was building on the foundations laid by his predecessors.

“He is building roads and bridges, schools and hospitals, water treatment plants, sewage and storm water drainages, solid waste management plants and mass transport infrastructure.

“He recently got approval for the electricity power infrastructure for Lagos, which when fully executed, will make Lagos State almost energy independent in Nigeria.  You are all aware of the newly-acquired mass transit buses that are going to be natural gas powered in order for us in Lagos to be the first to comply with the global climate agenda of de-carbonisation,” he said.

Otedola added that he was aware that Ambode was spearheading the modernisation of the government bureaucracy in order to get processes re-engineered for best performances.

“A good government is a reflection of an efficient and responsive bureaucracy. It is the catalytic driver for private sector growth. A bad and weak bureaucracy will produce nothing for the people,” he said.

President’s cosmetic sympathy, show of concern and crocodile tears can’t deceive Nigerians AGAIN

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has described President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Taraba and planned visit to Benue, Zamfara, Yobe and Rivers states, as an after-thought and not altrusitic.

The states have been ravaged by insecurity and carnages that have claimed many lives in recent months.

Mr. Buhari has been criticised for not visiting the affected states which may have prompted a recent announcement by the presidency that he would be visiting the states.

“Obviously, the president is more concerned about his re-election in 2019 and his visit to those states that he abandoned during their times of trouble is to seek for votes, not to sympathise with the people of the states on their loses,” Mr. Fayose, a notable critic of Mr. Buhari, said.

Fayose likened the president to a ”selfish king who went on making merry while his people were in agony only to show up when the people had already buried their loved ones that were gruesomely murdered, gotten over their anguish and moved on with their lives.”

In a statement issued by Monday by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said it was the ”height of cruelty that the same President Buhari, who promised
to lead from the front in the fight against Boko Haram could not visit Dapchi, Yobe State where 110 school girls were abducted by the insurgents, elected to go on merry making in Kano.”

“On January 9 and 12, this year, 88 victims of herdsmen attacks were given mass burial in Taraba State. Also on January 11, 2018, another 73 persons killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Benue State were buried in a mass grave in Makurdi, the state capital.

“Meaning that in Taraba and Benue States alone, 161 Nigerians were given mass burial within three days! This never caught the attention of our President. Rather, it was a visit to Nasarawa, a neighbouring State to Benue that was important to him.

“To further demonstrate his lack of compassion for Nigerians, while the entire nation, especially parents of the 110 abducted school girls in Dapchi, Yobe State are still in anguish, President Buhari went to Kano last Saturday to attend a social function, thus sparking negative reactions from Nigerians.

“Apparently, it was the negative reactions of Nigerians, especially on social media and the effects on the president’s reelection bid that necessitated his hurried visit to Taraba State today, and planned visits to Benue, Zamfara, Yobe and Rivers States.

I am sure the people of Taraba State won’t be hoodwinked by the President’s cosmetic sympathy, show of concern and crocodile tears, which he never bothered to shed when hundreds of indigenes of the State were being killed by suspected herdsmen,” the governor said.

While declaring the visits as belated and afterthought, Governor Fayose said; “Nigerians can no longer be deceived by a president who never cared for them when they needed him most. Therefore, no amount of hurriedly organised campaign visits will sway the people.”

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji has said that the ‘unprecedented’ achievements of the Governor Abiola Ajimobi, qualifies him for another term in office were it not for constitutional impediment that restricts governors to two terms in office.
Olubadan made this statement on Thursday at a meeting convened by Ajimobi was convened by Ajimobi to meet with close traditional rulers across the state, with a view to engaging their support for peace and security in the state, briefing the monarchs on the achievements of his administration and the plans to transform the state for the next 25 yearsThe meeting held at House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan, was also to mandate them to ensure peace in their domains during and after the local government election that has been fixed for May 12, this year.

“I thank the governor because we are seeing all the work he has done and we are also praying for him that he won’t face impossibilities. By the grace of God, nothing shall be impossible for you.

“Thank you, governor. God will continue to help you. This is your second term, this is your seventh year. `

`Yoruba don’t appreciate themselves but to abuse and criticize but when someone has done well, we must say it. I am talking about what I have seen so far. In view of this, I would have loved him to go for another term if not that the constitution does not allow it.

“The governor has performed very well. He has recorded unprecedented achievements worthy of commendation. This is the only way to spur him into greater performance for the benefit of the whole state.”.

“The Alaafin and I once sat together and appreciated the governor for the good things he has done. God will not make people insult you for it. You won’t finish it and people will say what you have done is not good because we are saying what we are seeing.

“Some people, when some people are doing well, instead of them to greet him congratulations on the good thing he has done, they won’t greet him. All the things you have will not be destroyed. Your children shall be successful. Your wife will be successful because you have done well. Everything you have done as well will not go sour,” the Olubadan said.

Similarly, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, lauded the pace of road constructions and other ongoing projects across the state, notwithstanding the economic downturn in the country.

The two monarchs extolled the governor for what they called his outstanding performances dotting all the five zones of the state since his assumption of office about seven years ago.

Also, the Alaafin said that the governor should be commended for all he had achieved since the beginning of his administration in spite of the dwindling allocations from the Federation Account and paltry internally-generated revenue.

“We can only commend you for all you have been able to achieve in the last seven years. We are very impressed with your performance. At the appropriate time, we will comprehensively, sufficiently and adequately respond to your address.

“The only thing you are not telling us is where you have been getting the money to do all the projects. I have had to engage you in a private discussion on this recently to ask how you source the money you have been using to execute the projects since you are not printing money.

“But, the governor has allayed my fears. He explained to me that most of the projects were contractor-financed and that the money would be paid back under very convenient terms. He has assured me that he would not plunge the state into huge debts,” the Alaafin said.

Other traditional rulers who also spoke at the occasion included the Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Rafiu Adekunle; Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Samuel Adegbola; Onpetu of Ijeru, Oba Sunday Popoola and the representative of Soun of Ogbomoso, the Aare Ago of Ogbomosoland, Chief Sobalaje Otolorin.

They all expressed appreciation to the governor for the initiative which they described as an eye opener on the achievements so far recorded by the Ajimobi-led administration as well as his future plans for the state. – Tribune

Chief Oyegun declined to brief State House correspondents on his mission to the President but some of those who saw him said he walked briskly out of the Villa on Friday.

The APC Chairman’s visit may not be unconnected to the letter written to him by one of the party leaders, Senator Bola Tinubu, who accused him of sabotaging his reconciliation assignment in the party.

You Cannot Censor The Media, PDP Tells FG

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a swipe at the Federal Government over what it perceives as an attempt to censor the media.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement on Thursday faulted the Minister of Information and Culture, Mr Lai Mohammed, who briefed journalists on the government’s achievements so far.

“APC’s attempt to gag the media is pathetic, as no amount of censorship or bandying of false figures would stop Nigerians from reflecting on the real state of affairs in our country today,” he said while criticising the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ologbondiyan believes President Muhammadu Buhari’s government seems to have dashed the expectations of numerous Nigerians.

He claimed that the minister gave “unverifiable statistics” of the government’s achievements when he received a team of journalists on Tuesday in Abuja.

The PDP spokesman noted that the purported failures of the Federal Government must not be downplayed by censoring the media.

“Nigerians know that the APC has failed and that the Buhari-led Presidency is directly responsible for the collapse of our economy, which was thriving under the PDP.

“They know that the torrents started buffeting the nation from May 29, 2015, and no amount of propaganda and futile efforts to censor the media by the APC will change the facts,” Ologbondiyan said.

The statement read further: “While we note the minister’s snap that the media should contextualise their reporting, we ask; how else should the media contextualise the sudden collapse of the economy with the naira tumbling from N197/ 1USD in 2015 when PDP handed over power, to N360-N400/ 1USD, without placing the blame at the doorsteps of President Muhammadu Buhari and his dysfunctional APC?

“How else should the media contextualise the fact that under the Buhari Government, over 8 million Nigerians lost their jobs between 2016 to 2017; 16 million were unemployed, 18 million more were underemployed, while another 27.44 million refused to work in 2016 for various reasons related to frustration in the polity?”

The PDP further reiterated that the government should accept its failures and seek help from well-meaning Nigerians. – CTV

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) led Federal Government of lying to Nigerians.

The party made the allegation on Friday in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary Kola Ologbondiyan.

The statement was in reaction to the controversy surrounding the kidnap of an unconfirmed number of students at the Government Girls Science Technical College (GGSTC), Dapchi, in Yobe State.

Some members of the Boko Haram terrorist group had stormed the school on Monday, carting away with some girls while others were said to have fled into the bush.

However, conflicting figures of the abducted girls emerged while President Muhammadu Buhari had sent a delegation to the school to ascertain the situation there and report back to him.

In their reaction, the PDP claimed: “While President Buhari has not uttered any word of assurance, government’s visiting team headed by the Minister of Information and Culture, Mr Lai Mohammed, only had a whistle stop at the Dapchi school and made no effort to interface or even commiserate with community leaders and parents of the abducted girls, while completely shutting out the media. This only further confirms APC’s insensitivity to the plight of Nigerians.”

They also alleged that the Presidency has put Nigerians at risk by “deceiving the people and issuing false performance indices,” suggesting that insurgents have been completely routed out, a situation they claimed made the citizens “trust a lie and dropped their guards.”

“Without a doubt, if the incompetent All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government had not dished out lies to the people in a bid to score cheap political points for its ill-lucked 2019 re-election bid, more precautionary measures would have been adopted by the affected communities to ensure adequate protection,” the opposition party added.

They further accused the government of suppressing information on the girls’ abduction, saying such action resulted in conflicting reports and frustrating rescue mission.

The PDP condoled with the parents of the abducted girls and urged the security agencies to take “very decisive professional steps” to rescue the girls.

Senator Shehu Sani has reacted to the civil defamation suit filed against him by Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, insisting that nothing will stop him from expressing his opinion.

The Senator said although he has yet to be served a notice of the suit, his lawyers are ready and well prepared to defend him.

“The distinguished Senator wishes to assure all his supporters and well-wishers that nothing and absolutely nothing can stop him from expressing his opinion on either Kaduna state or National issues,” a statement by Suleiman Ahmed, a Special Adviser to the Senator read in part.

“The distinguished Senator is a dogged fighter who has been through many courts and even prisons in his life of struggle and can never be stopped or intimidated to silenced by any means.”

Governor El-Rufai sued the Senator on Friday accusing him of defaming his character and demanding N500million damages on four defamation charges, making a total of N2billion damages.

The governor, who personally filed the suit on Friday, is seeking compensation for the injury he allegedly suffered as a result of “the malicious statements” by Senator Sani.

But the Senator denied the governor’s claims, arguing that he had not used derogatory remarks on the governor.

Despite the lawsuit, the Senator said he would continue to do what he has been doing which, according to him, is to hold public officers to account.

“The senator will continue to beam the light in the dark and grey areas of our democracy. Those who are irritated by the truth simply need to get a cotton bud,” he said.
“Those who voluntarily offer themselves for public service have also chosen to offer themselves for public scrutiny.”

In his reaction to the suit, the Senator accused the governor’s aides of launching a campaign of calumny against him.

“The distinguished Senator has in the last two years endured and overcame sponsored violence and campaign of calumny by the aides of the state governor and will overcome this,” he said.

It is the latest twist in the conflict between both men who despite being members of the All Progressives Congress have been unable to resolve their differences.

Consequently, they have continued to disagree on governance in Kaduna State and at the federal level.

Their years’ long dispute is believed to have played a major part in dividing the APC in Kaduna.

On Sunday, last week, a faction of the party had emerged with Senator Sani and Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, who was suspended by the Kaduna APC two days earlier, as key figures.

While Senator Hunkuyi was suspended for six months, thirty-eight members of the party were expelled for anti-party activities.  Senator Sani was suspended by the party in 2016.   – CTV
