Nov 11, 2017:\u00a0 A month after appointing Mrs. Aishah Ahmad as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed another woman to fill a very important position in the nation\u2019s food and drug agency.<\/span><\/p>\n

The first time President Buhari appointed a young lady was the appointment of Hadiza Usman as Managing Director of Nigeria Ports Authority. Many then sought to know her experience just as some were skeptical of her appointment.<\/p>\n

While many were still in shock, the\u00a0President appointed a 41-year old Aishah Ahmad<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0as the DG of the nation\u2019s apex bank.<\/p>\n

This time around, President Buhari has appointed yet another woman as the Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC.<\/p>\n

Find below the rich profile of the new NAFDAC Director-General, Professor Moji Christianah Adeyeye whose hubby is a professor of biology.<\/p>\n

Recall we had reported on\u00a0Friday night, November 10<\/a><\/strong>, that the Federal Government appointed Professor Moji Christianah Adeyeye, the wife of Senator Olusola Adeyeye representing Osun Central constituency at the National Assembly, as NAFDAC DG.<\/p>\n

Professor Mrs. Adeyeye who is the founder of Drugs for AIDS and HIV Patients, a nonprofit organization committed to prevention, education, care and treatment of HIV\/AIDS children in Nigeria, takes over from Mr. Ademola Andrew Magbojuri who was appointed as the Acting Director-General of NAFDAC in September.<\/p>\n

Magbojuri took over from Mrs. Yetunde Oni, who attained the retirement age of 60 years in September and also served in the acting capacity for 18 months following the sack of\u00a0 NAFDAC\u201ds\u00a0 substantive DG,\u00a0 Dr. Paul Orhii.<\/p>\n

With much talk about nepotism in terms of appointments in some sectors in the country, the President has shown this time that competence and good records can get one a good job, as Professor Mrs. Adeyeye\u2019s intimidating profile points to this fact.<\/p>\n

Professor Mrs. Adeyeye is the Chief Executive Officer of Elim Pediatric Pharmaceuticals Inc. Mrs. Adeyeye is a Professor of Pharmaceutics, Manufacturing Science and Drug Product Evaluation, College of Pharmacy, Roosevelt University, Schaumburg, IL and Chair, Department of Biopharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, Roosevelt University, Schaumburg, IL, Illinois.<\/p>\n

The new NAFDAC Director-General was Professor of Pharmaceutics and Manufacturing for 21 years at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. She is Senior Fulbright Scholar and Specialist and 2008 AAPS Fellow.<\/p>\n

Professor Mrs. Adeyeye attended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka obtaining a BSc in pharmaceutics in 1976, and went on to the University of Georgia where she obtained an M.S and Ph.D. in pharmaceutics in 1985 and 1988.<\/p>\n

The new NAFDAC Director-General has mentored over 15 Ph.D. and M.S candidates. She has 5 patents, 55 peer-reviewed manuscripts, book chapters and books, and more than 140 scientific presentations.<\/p>\n
