{"id":3786,"date":"2017-11-25T22:45:06","date_gmt":"2017-11-26T05:45:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nigerianews.ca\/?p=3786"},"modified":"2017-11-25T22:45:06","modified_gmt":"2017-11-26T05:45:06","slug":"yola-airport-shuts-adamawa-pdp-receives-atiku","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nigerianews.ca\/yola-airport-shuts-adamawa-pdp-receives-atiku\/","title":{"rendered":"Yola Airport shuts down as Adamawa PDP receives Atiku"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"single-post-header flex-container\">\n<h1 class=\"after-category single-article-title flex-item\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-138713 lazyload\" style=\"font-size: 16px\" src=\"https:\/\/guardian.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Atiku.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" \/><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"single-main flex-container\">\n<div class=\"single-article-content\" style=\"text-align: left\">\n<article><strong>His Exit A Blessing To Us, Says Adamawa APC\u00a0<\/strong><\/article>\n<article>November 25, 2017: Commercial flight operations were yesterday temporarily paralysed at the Yola Airport, as thousands of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members took over the airport to welcome former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who resigned earlier in the day from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).<\/p>\n<p>Atiku, who arrived the airport in a chartered flight at 12 noon, was sandwich by PDP members and supporters whom held him \u2018hostage\u2019 for several hours, chanting praises and announcing the death of APC in the country.<\/p>\n<p>The state Chairman of PDP, Mr. Abubakar Tahir Shehu, who led the party\u2019s members to received the former vice president, told journalists that the journey to recover PDP\u2019s stolen mandate from the ruling APC has commenced with the return of Atiku.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-align-none\">\n<div class=\"box\">\n<div>\n<div id=\"ventra-dfp-2\" class=\"dfp-ad ad-container\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/79805449\/TGN_InArtitcle_300x250_P1_0__container__\">He said that Atiku would be given fair and level playing ground with all other stakeholders and that his return has change the political narratives in the state and the country.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>But reacting to Atiku\u2019s resignation from APC, the state APC leadership described his exit as a big blessing to the party, saying it has opened up chances for other members that left due to his presence to return.<\/p>\n<div id=\"player-wrapper-87124826858700380\" class=\"jw-ad-visible\">\n<div>\u00a0Adamawa APC\u2019s Organising Secretary, Alhaji Ahmed Lawan, told The Guardian in Yola that Atiku was not only a liability, but also a political cancer that killed the fortunes of the party in parts of the state.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>He said many APC members left the party when the former vice president decamped from PDP and joined it, pointing out that APC has been praying for his exit from the party.<\/p>\n<p>Lawan contended that with Atiku\u2019s exit, the era of political terrorism has come to an end in the party, adding: \u201cWe in APC have succeeded in auctioning out a political property that has lost value.
