[Photo credit: PM News]<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"top-middle-outer\">\n<div class=\"entry-content manoj single-add-content\">\n<div class=\"single-related\">\n<div id=\"jp-relatedposts\" class=\"jp-relatedposts\">\n<div class=\"jp-relatedposts-items jp-relatedposts-items-minimal jp-relatedposts-list \">\n<p class=\"jp-relatedposts-post jp-relatedposts-post4\">December 20, 2017:\u00a0 The Nigerian Consulate in New York has said that applicants for the Nigeria visa can now get it in 48 hours with the introduction of the issuance of the biometric visa.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The acting Consul-General, Tanko Suleiman, who disclosed this at the commencement of the biometric visa processing in New York, said the new process had simplified the issuance of Nigerian visa.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Suleiman said with the commencement of the biometric visa issuance, no applicant should spend more than 25 minutes to complete his or her enrollment.<\/p>\n<p>The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Federal Government on Monday commenced the biometric visa issuance, becoming the first country in Africa to achieve that feat.<\/p>\n<p>The Nigerian envoy said the federal government has appointed Online Integrated Solutions Limited (OIS) as the company to handle the biometric visa project.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Suleiman appealed to applicants in the U.S. to be courteous and orderly as the new system would finally address any frustrations in obtaining the Nigerian visa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you are given an appointment for 1 p.m., your appointment will last for only one hour maximum for that day; you can cancel the appointment if you know you can\u2019t make it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, if you come here an hour after, your appointment is completely cancelled. Therefore, you have to reapply because you are not the only applicant, there are other people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo once you cannot come within that one hour, you will now have to apply for another time,\u201d Suleiman explained.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-3\">\n<p>The Managing Director of OIS, Abdul Momodu, said with the biometric system, there would be fairness in the visa application process as every applicant would now be approved on a case management system.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThat case management system can be reviewed in 10 years and it would be tied to the individual application as many times as he applies in the future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis further puts integrity into the system of applying for the Nigerian visa; there were two things that we put into play when we were developing this solution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to him, one of the advantages of the new system is to simplify the visa application process and make it less cumbersome.<\/p>\n<div class=\"tiled-gallery type-rectangular\">\n<div class=\"gallery-row\">\n<div class=\"gallery-group images-1\">\n<div class=\"tiled-gallery-item tiled-gallery-item-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.premiumtimesng.com\/news\/more-news\/253053-nigeria-commences-48-hr-visa-issuance-new-york.html\/attachment\/new-york-consulate-3\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" style=\"padding: 0px;border: none;font-weight: inherit;font-style: inherit;font-size: 14px;font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', times, serif;vertical-align: middle;height: 602px;background: 0px 0px;max-width: 100%;width: 803px;margin: 2px !important\" title=\"New-York-Consulate-3\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/media.premiumtimesng.com\/wp-content\/files\/2017\/12\/New-York-Consulate-3-e1513759604953.jpg?zoom=1.25&amp;resize=600%2C450&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"A Nigerian visa applicant going through the biometric process.
