Mercy Aigbe breaks silence on controversial red dress she wore for her 40th birthday<\/p>\n
January 10, 2018: Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe has finally spoken on the controversial red dress she wore for her 40th birthday photo-shoot.<\/p>\n
The actress on her Instagram page said she contacted a stylist who got her all the clothes for her birthday and had no idea that the dress belonged to someone else let alone a bride.<\/p>\n
She wrote, \u201cI have followed events as they unfold following a particular dress I wore for a photoshoot. First, I must say that I sincerely sympathise with the bride as this situation is painful, unfortunate and regrettably avoidable.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hired and paid Seun for the photo-shoot as a stylist and got four dresses for the shoot. Seun and I were unaware that one of the dresses was meant for someone else.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am embarrassed that the designer was not professional enough in handling events leading to this moment. It is also painful that a bride is made to go through what the bride has been made to go through. I have reached out to both the stylist and designer (whom I have never met nor hired directly) to express my displeasure.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have also instructed my lawyer to look into this and see how best to approach this from a legal point of view without festering an already open wound. Thanks.\u201d<\/p>\n
The controversy over the dress gained momentum on the social media after a bride called out a designer \u2018Rikato by me\u2019 on Instagram for giving her wedding dress to Mercy Aigbe for her birthday photo- shoot.<\/p>\n
The bride narrated that the dress was supposed to be delivered to her before the wedding day but was not.<\/p>\n
She said she wept throughout the day before she was given an old dress by the designer for the wedding.<\/p>\n
She said she was shocked when she saw her supposed wedding dress on Mercy Aigbe in a photo shoot on her 40th birthday on Instagram.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
