Nov 6, 2017: Deontay Wilder insists Anthony Joshua’s weight advantage will count for nothing if they meet next year. Wilder, the WBC heavyweight champion, scaled just 15 stone, 9 lbs when he knocked out Bermane Stiverne inside one round in New York on Saturday – compared to Joshua’s career-heaviest 18 stone, 2 lbs in his defeat of Carlos Takam a week earlier.
Wilder’s manager, Shelly Finkel, revealed the 32-year-old would be happy to come to London for a potential curtain-raiser fight against Dillian Whyte in February.
Undefeated Wilder has now won 38 of his 39 fights by stoppage. In contrast, Joshua laboured to a 10th-round win over Takam, while some critics believe his muscle-bound frame hampers his movement and stamina.
