Ex-Nigeria footballer Oliseh named best coach in Dutch second tier

Oliseh, 43, is currently manager of the club side, Fortuna Sittard. The club sits third on the league after 12 weeks, marking the end to the first round of the 20-team league.

He was awarded a ‘Bronze bull plaque’ along with his captain, Perr Schuurs, who was also named best player over the period.

He resigned as manager of Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles in 2016 citing contract violations and other administrative issues. He took over the reigns in July 2015 after another ex-player the late Stephen Keshi was sacked from the role.

The widely traveled midfielder has had professional stints with AFC Ajax (Holland), Borussia Dortmund (Germany) and Juventus FC (Italy). He won the Dutch and German leagues during his stints.

He is a technical member of football’s world governing body, FIFA; an Olympic gold medalist (1996) and 1994 winner of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
