President Muhammadu Buhari has rejected the bill seeking the establishment the Peace Corps of Nigeria as a federal government owned paramilitary organization.
President Buhari’s rejection of the Peace Corps bill was conveyed in a letter to Speaker Yakubu Dogara on Tuesday, February 27, 2018.
The President cited security concerns and financial burden of funding the organisation by the government as his reasons for rejecting the bill.
“Given scarce government resources, funding the organisation will be a financial burden on the federal government,” Buhari said.
