December 5, 2017: A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon Enyia Dimkpa, has come down hard on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over reports that he said that he could defeat President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 general election if he clinches the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting that Buhari would defeat Atiku, mercilessly.
While speaking with LEADERSHIP in an exclusive interview, yesterday, Hon Dimkpa said he was confident that, based on the unprecedented achievements of President Buhari in the last two and a half years, he would beat Atiku or any other presidential candidate mercilessly in 2019.
He maintained that the President is the best thing that has happened to Nigeria in recent time, adding that if he had not won the 2015 presidential election, the country would have been doomed.
Hon Dimkpa, who hails from Oru West federal constituency of Imo State, expressed confidence that Nigeria would be fully back on track by the end of President Buhari’s tenure.
On the alleged marginalisation of the Igbo in terms of political appointments by the Buhari-led government, Hon Dimkpa said Buhari has been fair to all.
One major area the president has made progress, he noted, is the area of security where the Nigerian military has technically defeated the Boko Haram terrorists, adding that in a short time from now, the dreaded sect will be totally defeated.
“President Buhari has towered above his predecessors, riding on the crest of integrity, commitment to the national cause and deep sense of responsibility laced with intent to leave Nigeria a better place for all.
